The Queen’s Speech confirmed a Conservative manifesto pledge to replace the UK’s Human Rights Act 1998 with a British ‘Bill of Rights and Responsibilities’.
The proposals were criticised by both the Labour Party and the Liberal Democrats, as well as human rights organisations.
