Unless regularly scheduled for fewer than three hours per shift, an employee who reports to work by request or with permission must be paid for at least three hours at the minimum wage, even if work is not available. If an employee works more than six hours a day, the employee must be provided 30 minutes for a meal for every six consecutive hours worked. Massachusetts also regulates the compensability of on-call time, sleeping and travel time. Most employers must provide employees one day of rest every seven days.
