USCIS Extends Deadlines for Requests for Evidence and Notices of Intent to Deny

March 27, 2020

Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that applicants and petitioners who receive a Request of Evidence (RFE) or Notice of Intent to Deny (NOID) dated between March 1, 2020, and May 1, 2020, will receive an additional 60 calendar days after the response deadline set forth in the RFE or NOID notice to submit a response before any action is taken.

While an automatic extension for a response may be generally helpful during this challenging time, employers are still encouraged to submit a response on any pending application or petition as soon as all necessary documents are ready to avoid lapses in work authorization as immigration benefits have not been afforded similar extensions.
