Alana Genderson advises clients on employment best practices and defends employers in all phases of employment litigation. Alana is a key member of the firm’s safety and health practice, representing clients from initial investigations to trials and appeals. Alana also maintains an active crisis management practice, advising on a range of pressing matters such as workplace accidents and how to manage the presence of communicable diseases at a worksite. Alana currently serves as a co-leader of the labor and employment COVID-19 response taskforce.

Among other matters, Alana defends employers in whistleblower proceedings and against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful discharge. Alana represents clients in employment matters in US federal, state, and administrative proceedings.

As part of her Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) practice, Alana works with clients to develop and implement companywide safety and health compliance policies and strategic plans. Alana regularly visits client worksites to manage federal US Department of Labor (DOL), state plan, and public health department investigations and gives trainings on how to handle agency investigations. Alana guides clients through the administrative rulemaking process and has challenged DOL rulemaking on statutory and due process grounds.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Alana participated in the firm’s Public Interest Fellowship Program, gaining litigation experience in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia with the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia. Alana currently serves as a co-chair for the DC Legal Aid Society Generous Associates Campaign.
