The Perils of Social Media – An Employment Law Perspective

29 июня 2016 г.
04:00 - 05:30 British Summer Time

Please join our lawyers from our labour and employment practice for an interactive and practical seminar about how employers should handle social media issues.

Our session will deal with the employment law implications arising out of the rise of social media. Employers have to protect their business as well as their employees. Our presenters will examine how this can be done and in a way that avoids potential litigation. A new generation of employees in the workplace embrace social media as part of the fabric of their daily lives. This creates important implications for the employment relationship. Employers must grapple with new concepts and consider how they fit into the existing law, both in terms of property rights and statutory protection.

Topics will include:

  • Drafting and implementing a social media policy
  • Monitoring Internet use and its implications
  • The use of social media outside work
  • Disciplinary action for social media misconduct
  • Ownership of data created during the course of employment
  • Restrictive covenants and social networking solicitation
