KPMG in Singapore and Morgan Lewis are pleased to invite you to join us for a live webinar on the implications around the Executive Order 13959 (EO 13959) for the Asset Management Industry.

EO 13959 prohibits all transactions by US investors in most or all securities (including derivatives) of entities identified by the US government as a "Communist Chinese military company." As a result of this order, there has been a significant effect on investment funds in Asia and around the world that directly or indirectly have exposure to the sanctioned entities.

Morgan Lewis lawyers Timothy LevinKenneth Nunnenkamp and Joel Seow as well as KPMG in Singapore's Daniel Joe, will share their views on the implications on the asset management industry in Asia and examine a few fund structuring solutions from a legal and tax perspective. This session will be moderated by Howard Ching from KPMG in Singapore.

Other topics that this session will discuss include the following:

  1. The implementation, challenges and the approaches the investment industry is using to address these implications;
  2. How to navigate investments in companies classified as Communist Chinese military companies;
  3. The effects of the sanctions on fund managers based in Asia, and how they can continue trading in sanctioned entities without running afoul of these sanctions;
  4. The recent US court ruling relating to Xiaomi and its implications for the sanctions program;
  5. US Tax Considerations

This webinar is complimentary, although early registration is recommended. View the invitation.
