Workplace Government Relations and Regulation: Morgan Lewis Launches Practice with Ex-Agency Officials at Helm

27 октября 2020 г.

WASHINGTON, DC, October 27, 2020: Morgan Lewis has long attracted high-ranking officials from nearly every major labor and employment federal agency in the United States: the Department of Labor (DOL), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). Drawing on their insights, the firm is launching the Workplace Government Relations and Regulation practice to provide guidance on how to effectively navigate the agencies that regulate US workplaces. This intrinsic understanding of government agencies and the process behind official guidance has proven especially helpful for employers as they navigate the quick-fire regulations released during the COVID-19 pandemic and as they prepare for the global impact of the US election.

“Morgan Lewis has long been known as a destination to help employers effectively operate in a quickly changing global landscape,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “Combining the collective brain trust of these top-tier lawyers, who have helped shape US workplace policy and regulations, into one cohesive unit provides an incredibly valuable resource for our clients.”

The practice is led by partners (in alphabetical order):

  • Chai Feldblum, Commissioner of the EEOC (2010–2019)
  • Susan Harthill, Deputy Solicitor for National Operations at the DOL (2014–2018)
  • Harry Johnson III, NLRB Board Member (2013–2015)
  • Sharon Perley Masling, Chief of Staff and Senior Counsel to EEOC Commissioner Feldblum (2011–2019)
  • Philip Miscimarra, NLRB Chairman and Board Member (2013–2017)
  • Jonathan Snare, Acting Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA (2004–2006) and Deputy Solicitor for DOL (2006–2009).

Together, they advise clients on the regulatory and enforcement priorities of these agencies, crafting individual plans for employers on how to stay in compliance with evolving regulations and, when needed, how to prepare for government investigations.

The group is hosting a workplace policy webinar series, featuring guest speakers EEOC Chair Janet Dhillon; NLRB Chairman John Ring and member Lauren McFerran; and Solicitor of Labor for the DOL Kate O’Scannlain and Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs Director Craig Leen, along with the leaders of Morgan Lewis’s Workplace Government Relations and Regulation practice. More information on the webinar series can be found on this event page.
