LONDON, April 22, 2022: Morgan Lewis continues to expand its global structured transactions capabilities with the addition of partner Richard Hanson, resident in the London office. He arrives from Orrick and focuses on structured finance, securitization, and fund finance. His arrival follows structured transactions partner Merryn Craske, who joined the firm in London on March 1.

“Rick brings a wealth of experience in representing private funds on structured credit matters and securitization transactions, bringing strong synergistic opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in our investment management practice,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “His capabilities both broaden and deepen our strength and the services we provide to our fund clients in an important jurisdiction.”

Rick advises alternative investment funds and asset managers on structured finance, securitization, and bespoke finance solutions in a wide range of alternative and illiquid asset classes. He has experience with funding structures backed directly and indirectly by commercial real estate, private debt, and other asset classes. Rick advises on all types of private structured credit solutions for asset managers, including leverage in the form of loan-on-loan, repurchase facilities, and private securitizations and derivatives-based financings, as well as warehouse lines and the financing of loan portfolios using securitization and structured lending techniques. Rick handles derivatives-related matters as well as standard and esoteric securitizations across an array of specialty finance structures and asset classes.

“We have a large, dedicated full-service structured transactions practice, but we continually look for top talent like Rick who practice in the areas which our clients need us most,” said Reed Auerbach, who leads Morgan Lewis’s structured transactions practice. “Rick’s high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, and collaborative nature are a perfect fit for our team.”

Other recent additions to Morgan Lewis’s structured transactions practice includes Steven Becker and Alex Velinsky in New York and Washington, DC, respectively.

“We look forward to welcoming Rick as our most recent addition in London,” said Frances Murphy, managing partner of the London office. “His skillset overlaps nicely with our service offerings for our global financial institution and fund-related clients.”
