This new law provides for a new legal mechanism (a review by a US judge) in case that a search warrant encompasses access to data that a US provider stores outside of the US. It requires executive agreements between the United States and “qualified foreign governments.” The article provide a preliminary analysis, also in view of the EU’s access requirements under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
