Eugene S. Hwangbo concentrates his practice on intellectual property litigation. Gene applies his degree in the life sciences and systems engineering to assist clients with interdisciplinary matters that span the biological and engineering arts. In addition to his intellectual property work, Gene is committed to public service and maintains an active pro bono practice.
During law school, Gene served on the editorial board of the Northwestern University Law Review as online managing editor. He also served as judicial extern to Judge John Z. Lee in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Prior to law school, Gene served 20 years on active duty, including ten years overseas, in the US Army as an infantry and civil affairs officer. Following his military service, he was competitively selected as a US Foreign Service Officer in the Public Diplomacy track. From his federal service, Gene holds a current Top Secret (TS/SCI) security clearance.
