A number of regulations require US universities, nonprofits, and faculty that receive federal funding and grants to disclose foreign gifts and contracts to the federal government. These laws and regulations are premised on the understanding that when research institutions fail to meet disclosure requirements, they can compromise the integrity of taxpayer-funded research and allow federal funds to accelerate foreign research and development, sometimes to the detriment of national security interests.

Join members of the Morgan Lewis international trade and national security practice for a webinar discussing these obligations and the legal implications of undisclosed ties to foreign institutions at US universities and nonprofits.

Topics Will Include:

  • Legal, regulatory, and national security implications of undisclosed foreign payments and gifts to universities and nonprofits
  • Growing threats of a foreign recruitment, academic solicitation, and conflicts of interests among university  and nonprofit staff
  • Protecting US economic and national security during the international exchange of research

Partners Giovanna Cinelli and Kenneth Nunnenkamp will be joined by legal practice assistants Kate Applegate and Leigh Francia.
