Morgan Lewis Partner Honored by the American Immigration Lawyers Association

WASHINGTON, DC, June 23, 2014: Morgan Lewis is pleased to announce that Labor and Employment Practice partner and Chair of the Immigration and Nationality Practice Eleanor Pelta was awarded the 2014 Edith Lowenstein Memorial Award for excellence in advancing the practice of immigration law by the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) on June 21.

“Ms. Pelta has been a national leader in business immigration issues for more than a decade through her substantive law practice, advocacy, writing, and media work,” AILA said in a statement announcing the honor, which is one of the association’s highest annual honors.

AILA is a national association of over 13,000 attorneys and law professors who practice and teach immigration law. Founded in 1946, AILA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization providing continuing legal education, information, professional services, and expertise through 38 chapters and more than 50 national committees. Ms. Pelta has been an active member for nearly 30 years, participating in writing, speaking, and mentoring activities, serving on the executive board of her local chapter, founding and creating various programs within the association, and ultimately serving as AILA’s national president from 2011 to 2012.
