Program Connects French Startups with Lawyers for Immersion Opportunity

SAN FRANCISCO, October 19, 2015: For the second consecutive year, Morgan Lewis will host New Technology Venture Accelerator’s (NETVA) Entrepreneurship Week, an immersion program designed to help enterprising French startups and their founders gain exposure to the startup and venture communities in North America, as well as an understanding of the region’s regulatory landscape.

NETVA is an initiative of the Office of Science & Technology at the Embassy of France in the United States dedicated to supporting France’s startups in their pursuit of opportunities to grow and expand throughout the United States and Canada. The sessions will take place in Morgan Lewis’s San Francisco office, where members of five French startups chosen by the Ministry to participate will meet with the firm’s lawyers for invaluable mentoring, a panel discussion about the opportunities and challenges European entrepreneurs face in the United States, and dialogue on new venture funding and intercultural differences.

Entrepreneurship Week participants include representatives from Bloomizon, DAMAE Medical, Ionwatt, XtremLogic and VProject. Morgan Lewis Partner Dr. Jeffry Mann and Patent Agent Dr. Anita Melikian will lead the week’s activities.

“We are thrilled to partner with NETVA to host the leaders of France’s most innovative startups,” said Dr. Mann, co-chair of the firm’s Global Life Sciences Interdisciplinary Group and leader of the San Francisco IP practice. “Armed with a better understanding of the US market and its regulatory nuances, the promise these young companies exhibit will have a stronger foundation from which to grow.”
