Morgan Lewis Named a ‘Best Law Firm for Women’ by Working Mother

2020年9月8日

NEW YORK, September 8, 2020: Creating a culture of opportunity for women has long been a central tenet of Morgan Lewis’s culture. In recognition of that, Working Mother has named Morgan Lewis a “Best Law Firm for Women.” The annual list recognizes firms that utilize best practices in finding, retaining, promoting, and developing women lawyers.

“Our legal community is stronger when diverse voices are empowered to speak up and share their perspectives,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “Morgan Lewis has long been committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that has attracted so many of the dynamic and powerhouse women leaders who call Morgan Lewis home.”

Working Mother highlights firms that provide formal mentoring and sponsorship programs for women, offer reduced hours and remote work for lawyers, and have a significant percentage of female equity partners. Morgan Lewis was one of the first law firms to adopt the Mansfield Rule and is fully committed to considering women and diverse candidates for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, and lateral positions. Morgan Lewis is the world’s largest law firm chaired by a woman, and nearly a third of the firm’s office managing partners are female. Our ML Women program sponsored the inaugural Women of Power & Prominence Summit in Washington, DC, which is now a global initiative with networking events across the world.

In addition, the firm’s remote working program, which launched in March 2017 and leveraged technology to enable associates to spend one or two days each week working remotely, allowed Morgan Lewis to very quickly ramp up a full remote working situation for everyone in the firm this year.

“Law firms on this year’s list were better prepared to respond to the effects of the pandemic because of their continued support of flextime and remote work for working parents and caregivers,” said Subha Barry, president of Working Mother Media. “We are proud to recognize their resilience and steadfast commitment to supporting gender equality.”
