SAN FRANCISCO, December 17, 2021: Morgan Lewis associate Kevin Benedicto has been named by The Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) as a 2021 Award of Merit honoree for his contributions and work in criminal justice reform, diversity and inclusion, and pro bono.

Among his work with BASF, Kevin serves on its Criminal Justice Task Force, and has provided pro bono representation advising San Francisco’s leaders on various police reform proposals, including on issues such as use of force, bail reform, and labor negotiations. Kevin also helped coordinate and secure pro bono representation for low-income businesses in the city’s Chinatown neighborhood that were facing frivolous and harassing Americans with Disabilities Act lawsuits.

Most recently, Kevin was named a recipient of BASF’s Barristers Club Diversity Award and was awarded the Joe Morozumi Award for Exceptional Legal Advocacy by the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area. He has also been appointed to a three-year term, beginning January 1, 2022, to the board of directors for the BASF Barristers Club, BASF’s community of lawyers in their first 10 years of practice.

Kevin represents and advises clients in a variety of litigation matters, including complex litigation, cybersecurity and data privacy, securities investigations and litigation, business and corporate disputes, insurance coverage litigation, and products liability. He also maintains an active and varied pro bono practice with a focus on civil rights, including immigration and asylum, election protection and voting rights litigation, and police use-of-force accountability and reform.

Kevin formally received his Merit Award during a BASF virtual luncheon on December 16.
