Morgan Lewis Advising Hydro-Québec on Acquisition of New England Hydropower Generating Stations

NEW YORK, October 12, 2022: Morgan Lewis is representing HQI US Holding LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hydro-Québec, in the company’s agreement to acquire Great River Hydro LLC, which owns the largest hydropower fleet in New England. Affiliates of ArcLight Capital Partners LLC are selling Great River Hydro for a value of approximately $2 billion.

Hydro-Québec generates, transmits, and distributes electricity, and is Canada’s largest electricity producer and ranks among the world’s largest hydropower producers. Great River Hydro owns 13 hydropower-generating stations with a total installed capacity of 589 megawatts located along the Connecticut and Deerfield rivers throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

Partners John Klauberg and Michael Espinoza and associates Spencer Curtis, Brooke Tinnerello, and Yusuf Brown are advising Hydro-Québec, along with partners Charles Vandenburgh, Daniel Skees, Jeannine Bishop, Mark Lazaroff, Christopher McAuliffe, and Randall McGeorge.
