Talent Tracker 2025 Review: Morgan Lewis Tops List for US Partner Hires, Managing IP

Partner and global head of Morgan Lewis’s intellectual property (IP) practice Lou Beardell spoke with Managing IP for an article about US IP lawyer hiring trends in 2025. As the article notes, Morgan Lewis was the top IP hiring firm in the United States last year.

Lou told Managing IP that the firm’s growth was driven by client demand for support in IP disputes.

“We’re seeing more matters involving high-stakes, multi-forum IP disputes with increased technical complexity, and clients are asking for deeper benches that can operate seamlessly across venues and jurisdictions,” Lou said.

When asked how Morgan Lewis attracts top talent, Lou explained that the firm allows partners to be flexible in developing their practices.

“We encourage collaboration across offices and practices, openness to innovative fee arrangements, and the ability to engage with emerging tools, such as AI-driven approaches. We also have a strong culture of collaborating with other law firms, which has attracted talent,” he said.
