John L. Hemmer helps companies and inventors secure and leverage patent protection. With a background in mechanical engineering, John prepares and prosecutes patent applications for many types of technologies. Additionally, he counsels clients on patent portfolio management, patent strategy, new product clearance, and patentability analyses. On the transactional side, John prepares and negotiates technology agreements, and works with clients on venture capital financing, merger and acquisition agreements, and intellectual property due diligence.
John's practice is concentrated in mechanical technologies including medical devices, military equipment, cleantech technologies, automotive mechanisms, electromechanical devices, consumer products, packaging, and industrial equipment and tools.
Active in community affairs, John is a board member of Neighborhood Bike Works and an advisory board member for Back on My Feet Philadelphia. He is also a committee member for the annual Justice For All 5k, which benefits Community Legal Services of Philadelphia.
