John L. Hemmer is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice. Mr. Hemmer's practice focuses on assisting companies and inventors in securing and enforcing patent protection for their inventions. He prepares and prosecutes patent applications across a broad range of technologies including medical devices, cleantech technologies, electro/mechanical devices, military equipment, consumer products, and business methods. Mr. Hemmer counsels clients on managing their patent portfolios, developing patent strategies, new product clearance, and patentability analyses.

Mr. Hemmer's practice also focuses on the preparation and negotiation of technology agreements, venture capital financing, merger and acquisition agreements, and intellectual property due diligence.

Active in community affairs, Mr. Hemmer is a committee member for the annual Justice For All 5k to benefit Community Legal Services, and a board member of Neighborhood Bike Works and the Philadelphia chapter of Back on My Feet.

Mr. Hemmer received his J.D. from Temple University, Beasley School of Law in 2006, where he was an associate editor for the Temple Journal of Science Technology and Environmental Law and a member of the intellectual property moot court team. He received his B.S., magna cum laude, in mechanical engineering from Pennsylvania State University's Schreyer Honors College in 2003.

Mr. Hemmer is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey.
