Morgan Lewis Advises Macquarie on Low Carbon Methanol Project

DUBAI, January 10, 2024: Morgan Lewis represented Macquarie Commodities Trading in its exclusive master services and marketing agreement (MSMA) with Transition Industries LLC for its Pacifico Mexinol project, a 6,145 metric-tons-per-day methanol production facility near Topolobampo, Sinaloa, Mexico. When it commences operations, Pacifico Mexinol is expected to be one of the largest single low-carbon chemicals facilities in the world, producing approximately 300,000 metric tons of green methanol from captured carbon and green hydrogen and 1.8 million metric tons of blue methanol per year from natural gas with carbon capture. The MSMA has a term of 15 years from the commercial operations date of the project.

Macquarie provides capital and financing, risk management, market access, and physical execution and logistics solutions across commodities, financial markets, and asset finance sectors. Transition Industries LLC is a developer of world-scale net-zero carbon emissions methanol and hydrogen projects in North America.
