Senior Counsel

İzzet M. Sinan counsels clients on European Union (EU) law. He advises on all aspects of EU competition law, helps companies obtain clearance for mergers and joint ventures before the European Commission and member state agencies, and counsels on agreements and issues relating to requests for information. He also advises and defends clients involved in alleged cartel agreements, including onsite European Commission dawn raid investigations and possible leniency and settlement issues,and implements compliance programs. İzzet advises clients on their national filing obligations resulting from the EU’s Foreign Direct Investment Regulation and the implications of the Foreign Subsidies Regulation.

İzzet advises clients in EU trade and customs cases, including complex issues of origin, as well as a broad range of other EU regulatory matters, including in the EU Digital Space. As a native Turkish speaker, İzzet has a long history of working with private and public companies from the Republic of Türkiye, as well as industry associations. He was actively involved in the negotiation of the EU-Türkiye Customs Union. He has practiced in Brussels since the early 1980s and is qualified to appear before the Court of Justice of the European Union. He represents clients in the aviation, chemicals, manufacturing, motor vehicle, and tourism industries.
