Michael T. Sikora

Mike has experience with all aspects of a case’s lifecycle, from pre-suit investigations through pleadings, seeking preliminary relief, conducting fact and expert discovery, engaging in motion practice and trial. He also engages in an active pro bono practice. Mike and other Morgan Lewis lawyers recently helped detained asylum-seeking families seek a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to address the conditions of their confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In law school, Mike pursued his interest in IP litigation by working as a judicial extern for Judge John R. Tunheim of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, competing on the Intercollegiate Mock Trial Team, and serving as a research assistant for professor Tom Cotter, a leading scholar in patent remedies. He was recognized for his achievement in intellectual property scholarship, earning both the Minnesota Intellectual Property Law Association (MIPLA) Award, 2017-18 and the ABA-Bloomberg BNA Award for Excellence in Intellectual Property Law, 2018. Mike also worked as an articles editor for the Minnesota Law Review and earned a concentration in Civil Litigation.

Prior to law school, Mike worked in the Kazlauskas Research Group at the University of Minnesota, an evolution-based protein-engineering lab. He also has experience working in an industrial lab setting, where he engineered immortalized cell lines to increase yields of active-form peptides.
