Terese M. Schireson counsels and defends companies in privacy, cybersecurity, and data protection matters. She advises clients in matters relating to data security incident response, compliance with consumer privacy and data protection laws, and marketing practices. Terese also represents companies across various industries in class action litigation and government investigations related to data security incidents and compliance with privacy and data protection laws.

Terese advises companies on various privacy and cybersecurity issues, including updating privacy programs for compliance with new consumer privacy laws, updating privacy and security policies, and establishing protocols for data collection, storage, and transfer. She frequently advises clients on compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), state data security laws, US federal and state CAN-SPAM laws, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Federal Trade Commission (FTC) rules, and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). She serves clients across diverse industries, including the retail, energy, technology, and healthcare sectors. Terese is a member of the firm’s global privacy and cybersecurity practice as well as its Class Action Working Group.

Terese maintains an active pro bono practice focused on assisting clients with asylum and citizenship applications. She is fluent in Spanish, and in July 2018, she traveled to the US-Mexico border to help reunite families who had been separated upon entry into the country. In 2022, she had the honor of serving as a Distinguished Guest Speaker at a naturalization ceremony for new US citizens.

Terese began her legal career as a federal law clerk to Judge Joel H. Slomsky and Judge Cynthia M. Rufe of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. During law school, she served as managing editor of the Temple Law Review and as an intern for Judge Gene E.K. Pratter of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

In 2021, Terese was designated by the Eastern District of Pennsylvania to serve on a Merit Selection Panel to review two magistrate judges for reappointment.
