25 мая 2023 г.

WASHINGTON, DC, May 25, 2023: Kandis Gibson will be inducted as president of the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia (WBA) this evening, marking the start of the Morgan Lewis associate’s one-year term to guide the organization.

A longtime member of the WBA, Kandis has previously served as the association’s secretary and most recently as the 2022-2023 president-elect. As part of her new role, Kandis has chosen the theme “Leading Forward” which will focus on women in leadership. This theme will serve as the focus of association programming, such as fireside chats, panels, and small group discussions, during her tenure.

Kandis focuses her practice on Section 337 proceedings at the US International Trade Commission. She has participated in over 45 Section 337 investigations involving unfair trade practices, including patent, trademark, and copyright infringement, and misappropriation of trade secrets. Kandis also has experience in complex civil litigation matters and has handled matters before US district courts and agencies, including representing clients in enforcement issues related to Section 337 exclusion orders before the US Customs and Border Protection.

Beyond her practice, Kandis is an active member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Diversity in IP Committee, where she co-chairs the Special Programming Subcommittee. Additionally, she is board chair of Washington DC’s I Dream Public Charter School and a Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network volunteer.

Kandis will officially begin her role as president tonight at the WBA/WBA Foundation Annual Dinner in Washington, DC.
