NEW YORK, January 19, 2023: Morgan Lewis has been recognized by Law360 in its 2022 Practice Groups of the Year awards for Benefits, Employment, and Healthcare. The annual series honors the lawyers and firms that have played an integral role in landmark litigation and major deals that shaped the legal industry in the last year.
This is the second consecutive year that Law360 has selected the firm’s healthcare practice earned for its representation of clients. This includes securing a win in a first-of-its-kind antitrust case on behalf of a kidney dialysis service company; securing a complete summary judgment for a university medical system in a long-standing lawsuit; and advising a capital and management partner for leading orthopedic and spine physicians in a trio of strategic growth acquisitions.
Morgan Lewis’s employee benefits practice earned recognition for the team’s victories for clients in court proceedings involving Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) litigation and other lawsuits; and continues to advise clients on how to address issues and legal challenges that emerged following the US Supreme Court’s decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health.
Among the successes the firm’s global employment practice achieved for this year’s recognition included defending challenges to COVID-19 vaccine mandates and serving as lead labor counsel to the US Soccer Federation in collective bargaining negotiations, which led to historic equal pay agreements between the federation and players associations representing its women’s and men’s national teams.
