In the digital age, data collection and utilization have become essential elements of business activities, even for companies that do not consider themselves data businesses, while concurrently the US-China relationship has resulted in increased legal requirements and restrictions regarding data handling.

In February of this year, the US government took further steps to protect sensitive data by issuing Executive Order (EO) 14117, which restricts the transfer of certain sensitive personal data and government-related data to countries of concern, including China. As a result, both US and Chinese businesses will have to determine the effect on their operations and put processes in place to ensure compliance.

The webinar will revolve around EO 14117 and the supporting implementation rules being developed by the US Department of Justice. We will provide a comprehensive overview of its background, main content, implementation points, potential impacts, and timing considerations.

We will pay particular attention to Chinese enterprises and will discuss what companies can do to prepare for the new regulation and help mitigate the impact on business operations, as well as to implement compliance measures to give confidence to US customers and business partners that they will not wind up in violation of the new regulations by working with Chinese companies.
