Doctors Give Medicare’s Proposal To Pay For Telemedicine Poor Prognosis, Kaiser Health News

In an article by Kaiser Health News Morgan Lewis associate Jacob Harper discusses Medicare’s proposal to pay doctors for five-minute “check-in” phone calls to determine if patients should go in for an appointment in advance. Federal law, with some exceptions, forbids Medicare from replacing telemedicine services with in-person office visits, which is why Harper notes, “CMS called the new benefit a check-in using ‘virtual’ or ‘communications technology.’”
