NEW YORK, June 27, 2025 – Morgan Lewis partner Carl Valenstein has been honored by the NYU School of Law Grunin Center with the Grunin Prize for Sustained Commitment Award, recognizing Carl’s dedication to impact investing and social entrepreneurship.
A member of the firm’s corporate & business transactions (CBT) practice in Boston, Carl has for more than 30 years provided legal assistance to microfinance institutions and assisted public charities, foundations, social enterprises and entrepreneurs, and impact investment venture capital funds. He is the former leader of the Boston office CBT practice, former co-chair of the firm's ESG and sustainability advisory practice, and previously served as co-chair of the International Section of the Boston Bar Association. He currently co-chairs the firm’s international trade & national security practice.
Carl is an Adjunct Professor at the NYU School of Law’s International Transactions Clinics and the University of Michigan Law School. He is also a founding member of the Impact Investing Legal Working Group, a professional organization of approximately 300 lawyers who work in the field of impact investing and represent a diverse array of organizations.
The Grunin Prize rewards the innovation, potential impact, and replicability/scalability of projects and solutions developed by lawyers to advance the fields of social entrepreneurship and impact investing. Carl received this award in early June during the Grunin Center Annual Conference on Social Entrepreneurship and Impact Investing. Colleagues, clients, and students from around the country praised Carl for his vast knowledge, responsiveness, warmth, and mentorship.
