Partner Rick Hanson was quoted in Structured Credit Investor on how hybrid products like rated note feeders (RNFs) and collateralized fund obligations (CFOs) are growing in prominence, while private capital fund managers are looking to tap into the increasing demand from insurance investors.
Rick discussed how CFOs and RNFs offer regulated investors a route to invest in funds and fund-like products via securitization technology. “I see these products as kind of a hybrid of fund finance and structured finance,” he said. “It's a form of fundraising tool for the main fund to harness insurance company capital, doing it in a way that's beneficial for that type of investor, from a regulatory capital perspective.”
