MUNICH, February 2, 2026: Morgan Lewis continues to strengthen its global life sciences capabilities with the arrival of Dr. Alexander Meier. Joining the firm in Munich after he was most recently vice president and head of legal regulatory strategy and global regulatory policy at Moderna in Switzerland, Alex is the third European partner to join Morgan Lewis’s global life sciences and healthcare platform in recent months.

Alex brings senior in-house as well as external counsel experience advising on European and global regulatory strategy for innovative biotechnology products, further enhancing the firm’s integrated regulatory and disputes platform in Europe. In conjunction with recent laterals Jackie Mulryne in London and Bart Jong in Brussels, Alex will advise clients on rapidly evolving regulatory frameworks across the European Union.

“Life sciences companies operating in Germany and across Europe face increasing regulatory complexity across product development, authorization, and enforcement,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “Alex’s broad external and in-house experience strengthens our ability to advise clients on navigating European regulatory frameworks while working closely with our litigation and disputes teams in Germany and across the region.”

Alex focuses his practice on European and German regulatory law for chemical and biological pharmaceuticals and medical devices. He advises biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies on regulatory strategy, competition law, and compliance matters, with particular experience in biopharmaceuticals, advanced therapy medicinal products, vaccines, and regulatory exclusivity frameworks.

“Clients rely on regulatory strategy and disputes counsel to manage risk, maintain compliance, and plan for growth across Europe,” said Michele Buenafe, leader of the firm’s FDA and healthcare practice. “Alex’s background, including his recent in-house leadership role, adds further depth to our global regulatory team and complements our established litigation and enforcement capabilities, particularly in Germany.”

“Germany is a key jurisdiction for global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies navigating both regulatory requirements and related disputes,” said Dr. Florian Harder, managing partner of Morgan Lewis’s Munich office. “Alex’s strong industry connections and in-house perspective enhance our platform and ability to support clients in matters that span regulatory strategy, enforcement, and litigation.”

Alex’s arrival further builds on the firm’s healthcare and life sciences growth in Germany, across Europe, and globally, including its established litigation and intellectual property capabilities. In addition to the arrivals of Jackie and Bart, intellectual property litigator Alex Ritter joined the Munich office last year, representing clients across healthcare, medical devices, biotechnology, and other regulated industries.
