Federal Bar Association Annual Qui Tam Conference

2024年2月22日 - 2024年2月23日

Morgan Lewis partner Meredith Auten will speak at the Federal Bar Association’s 2024 Qui Tam Conference.

Meredith will participate on the panel Ethics in Parallel Proceedings: Practices in the Prosecution and Negotiation of Criminal and Civil FCA Cases. This panel will address the considerations for navigating both civil and criminal FCA cases at the initiation, investigation, and resolution stages. The panel will meet from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm on February 23.

There are unique ethical responsibilities that arise in the context of parallel proceedings between and among the criminal and civil prosecutors, as well as defense counsel and defendants. The panel will focus on the application of professional responsibility rules in the context of parallel investigations, where separate investigation and/or litigation teams are engaged in varying degrees of coordination with each other to address common conduct and parties, arising primarily under ABA Model Rules 4.1, 4.2, 4.4, 8.4, and others.

The panel will be moderated by Deputy Civil Chief for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Charlene K. Fullmer and will feature Lee Cortes, executive assistant US attorney, US Attorney’s Office, District of New Jersey; and Joshua Levy, acting US Attorney, US Attorney’s Office, District of Massachusetts.

CLE credit: The FBA will seek 12.25 General CLE credit hours in 60-minute states, and 14.7 General CLE credit hours in 50-minute states.
