High-Skilled Foreign Workers with H1-B Visas Drop Most in Decade, Bloomberg Law

The number of immigrants holding high-tech jobs in the United States under the H1-B visa program is the lowest in a decade, largely due to slower visa processing during COVID-19 lockdowns and tightened immigration policies stemming from the pandemic. However, the sector has experienced lower unemployment during the pandemic than other industries, and as partner Shannon Donnelly tells Bloomberg Law, “what we’re seeing right now is a resurgence in hiring across the board whether it would be for those sponsorships or not. I do expect there to be an up-tick as we pull out of the pandemic.”
