Nuclear Power Is Essential for Modern Data Centers, but Its Complexity Is Growing, RCRTech

2026年03月09日

Partners Jane Accomando and Arjun Ramadevanahalli were quoted in an RCRTech article analyzing the growing role of nuclear power in meeting the massive energy and reliability demands of modern data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Jane and Arjun discussed how hyperscalers and other large energy users are increasingly exploring bring-your-own-power and behind-the-meter strategies, including partnerships with nuclear facilities, which introduce additional regulatory, liability, and structuring considerations.

“In addition to the transactional counsel needed, companies need to have a full appreciation for the nuclear-specific issues that arise when co-locating a data center with a nuclear plant. It’s important that data center developers and hyperscalers loop in nuclear counsel early and often to avoid problems,” Jane said.

Arjun noted that traditional power arrangements take on added complexity in the data center context, requiring careful attention to commercial agreements, land rights, and regulatory frameworks.
