Elizabeth B. Herrington
Elizabeth (“Beth”) Herrington focuses her practice on complex commercial and class action litigation across the United States, including management of multijurisdictional investigations and litigation. She has successfully first-chaired jury and bench trials, as well as complex commercial arbitrations, across the United States. With more than 25 years of practice, Beth defends high-profile class actions and is one of the few lawyers who have tried two certified class actions. Chambers describes Beth as a “fantastic” lawyer who gets “great results.” Beth is on the firm’s global Advisory Board and is the leader of Morgan Lewis’s Chicago litigation practice.

With experience in all aspects of corporate litigation, Beth advises clients on compliance with data privacy and cybersecurity requirements, such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLBA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and state data breach notification laws. She also has experience with children’s online privacy issues and has worked with clients to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and numerous other state laws regarding privacy. She advises on privacy and security issues related to cutting-edge technologies including facial recognition, voice recognition, iris and retinal scanning, artificial intelligence and machine learning, ad tech, location tracking and employee monitoring, and blockchain.
Among other accolades for significant client wins in litigation, Crain’s Chicago named Beth one of Chicago’s Most Influential Women Lawyers. Beth has also been selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America since 2013 and in Illinois Super Lawyers since 2015. The Legal 500 United States has recognized Beth as one of the leading data privacy, US trade secret, and commercial litigators in the country.

Beth is a past president of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association and is an active member of the Chicago Inn of Court. She also sits on the boards of numerous charitable organizations.
