Andrew Gallo is both an accomplished trial lawyer and bankruptcy attorney, with a focus in insolvency related litigation. Andrew counsels secured and unsecured creditors, equity holders and investors in bankruptcies and out-of-court restructurings. He also litigates complex commercial cases in state and federal courts and arbitrations, focusing on fraudulent transfer and creditors’ rights. Andrew is the co-leader of the firm’s bankruptcy, restructuring and insolvency practice area. He also has extensive experience representing clients in distressed situations relating to the energy industry and serves as co-leader of the firm’s energy industry team.

Previously, Andrew was a law clerk for Judge Sidney H. Stein of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Before joining Morgan Lewis, Andrew was a partner in the financial restructuring and litigation practice at another international law firm, where he helped run the training programs for litigation associates.

Andrew also led the firm’s pro bono representation of Walter Ogrod in post-conviction proceedings to overturn his wrongful conviction for the murder of a child in Philadelphia in 1988. Andrew worked on Mr. Ogrod’s case for more than a decade, pressing claims that the confession obtained from Mr. Ogrod by police officers was false. Those effort led, in June 2020, to Mr. Ogrod’s conviction being overturned and to his release after serving nearly 30-years in prison—more than 20 of which were on Pennsylvania’s death row.
