Pro Bono & Community Service Week: New York Office Stages a “Greenmarket Rescue”

Wednesday, June 3, 2015

During the firm’s sixth annual Pro Bono & Community Service Week with its theme of preventing hunger, a group of lawyers and staff from the New York office trekked through the rain on Monday to help City Harvest—the city’s only food rescue organization—collect excess produce from farmers at the Union Square Greenmarket.

In just under two hours, Morgan Lewis volunteers helped collect nearly 1,000 pounds of food including approximately 800 lbs of fresh produce, 140 lbs of bread, and 20 lbs of pretzels. After collecting the food, the volunteers loaded it onto City Harvest trucks for direct delivery to more than 500 soup kitchens and food pantries across New York’s five boroughs.
