Spotlight On: International Trade, National Security, and Economic Sanctions Team

Tuesday, July 21, 2015

With 2,000 lawyers in 28 offices around the world, Morgan Lewis lawyers deal on a daily basis with international trade issues, with a roster of clients in a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, manufacturing, aerospace and defense, chemicals, and transportation and shipping.

Our international trade, national security, and economic sanctions team advises clients on critical business issues that pertain to international trade laws and US national security requirements. We guide our clients through proceedings at a number of US federal agencies, and our scope encompasses Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanction programs, Export Administration Regulation (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), import laws, antiboycott regulations, US government national security and Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) reviews, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) compliance and anti-money laundering compliance.

We have also developed a reputation as thought leaders on international trade issues and, in particular, on export reform and sanction programs related to Cuba, Iran, Russia, and Syria. We have just issued a LawFlash on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action regarding Iran’s nuclear program, agreed to on July 14 by the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, France, China, Russia, and Germany (P5+1/E3/EU+3 countries) and Iran.
