Morgan Lewis to Co-Host “School to Prison Pipeline” Panel Discussion

BOSTON, November 16, 2016: Morgan Lewis will host “Dismantling the School to Prison Pipeline: Gault@50 and Meaningful Access to Counsel for Kids,” a panel discussion presented by the Youth Advocacy Foundation and Boston College Law School’s Rappaport Center for Law and Public Policy on Monday, November 21 in its Boston office.

The panel will feature insight on the School to Prison Pipeline and the right of counsel in the juvenile law context from Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Associate Justice Margot Botsford, Boston City Councilor Andrea Campbell, and Morgan Lewis partner Robert McDonnell. Panelists will also address the 50th anniversary of In re Gault, a landmark US Supreme Court decision holding that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment guarantees youth several due process rights, including the right to counsel. Francine Sherman, clinical professor at Boston College Law School, will moderate the discussion.
