Morgan Lewis, Center for Constitutional Rights to Host Guantánamo Lawyers Discussion

Tuesday, March 21, 2017

BOSTON, March 21, 2017: On Wednesday, March 22, Morgan Lewis and the Center for Constitutional Rights will hold a discussion and reception featuring the contributors of Obama’s Guantánamo: Stories from an Enduring Prison. The collection of essays describes President Obama’s failure to close the offshore detention center, the costs of that failure for those still imprisoned there, and the implications for future US policy and human rights.

Morgan Lewis partner Sabin Willett, who represented Uighur detainees from 2005 through 2011, will speak alongside Mark Fleming, partner at WilmerHale, and Jonathan Hafetz, editor of Obama’s Guantánamo and professor of law at Seton Hall University of Law as they share their accounts of representing detainees of the island prison. Aliya Hussain, advocacy program manager for the Center for Constitutional Rights, will serve as moderator.

The event will be held at Morgan Lewis’s Boston office at One Federal Street. To attend, please register at www.ccrjustice.org. The program will begin at 6:30 pm.
