NEW YORK, March 14, 2017: Morgan Lewis has been honored by Her Justice, a New York-based organization that offers women free legal services in the areas of family, divorce, and immigration law.
Morgan Lewis associates Elizabeth Buechner and Anna Goldenhersh, and legal secretary Yolanda Rosado-Carrasquillo were selected by the organization to receive its 2017 Commitment to Justice Award based on their pro bono efforts to secure approval for a humanitarian parole application on behalf of the two-year-old grandson of a Her Justice client. Upon learning that the child was being abused by his caretakers in Honduras, the Morgan Lewis team filed an application seeking the parole necessary for him to join his mother and grandmother in New York. The application was approved in July 2016, and the child is now in their care.
The annual Commitment to Justice Awards recognize the organization’s legal volunteers who donated their time and skills during the past year to help women and their families receive critical legal support. Elizabeth, Anna, and Yolanda were recognized by Her Justice at a reception on February 28 in New York.
