Gig Economy Prime Target for Labor Department Opinions (Corrected), Bloomberg Law

Morgan Lewis partner Christopher Parlo is quoted in a Bloomberg Law article about the proper classification employees should have as workers or independent contractors in the growing “gig” economy. Parlo shares that his reaction is unsurprising to the Department of Labor’s attempt to address the classification issue considering “federal wage and hour law went on the books to cover workers in coal mines and factories, but haven’t been updated to address drivers working for a ride-sharing company.”
