In an article from The Capitol Forum on global companies’ attempts to gain national security clearances when pursuing acquisitions, partner Giovanna Cinelli noted that “new investment laws in the [United States] allow for the multilateral cooperation and coordination among [US] allies when it comes to transactions that take place in multiple jurisdictions.”
“[I]t will take a considerable amount of time for Taiwan-based firms to isolate themselves from Chinese economic and political influences fully,” said Giovanna, referring to Taiwanese corporations’ efforts to ease the US government’s concerns by pulling factories and research operations out of China.
