LOS ANGELES, February 3, 2021: Morgan Lewis has been recognized in the Daily Journal’s list of Top Appellate Reversals for 2020, which highlights the largest and most significant verdicts in California from the last year.
Morgan Lewis was selected for its representation of The Regents of the University of California in Pinter-Brown v. The Regents of the University of California, led by labor and employment partners Barbara Fitzgerald and Jason Mills. In 2016, Dr. Lauren Pinter-Brown sued the University of California, claiming she was forced to leave the school after being harassed by male colleagues. The university appealed after a jury awarded her $13 million in damages, and a California appeals court reversed the decision, finding the trial judge made multiple errors and unfairly swayed the jury against the school.
Morgan Lewis’s appellate team handles high-stakes, complex, and cutting-edge issues for clients. Its members have briefed, argued, and won many cases before the Supreme Court of the United States, every US Circuit Court of Appeals, and numerous state appellate courts. The team also maintains an active amicus curiae practice, filing briefs on behalf of market leaders, industry groups, and members of Congress in federal and state courts across the United States.
