Aleksandr Markelov counsels and defends employers in labor and employment matters, including in federal and state courts and in arbitrations on class, collective, representative, and single-plaintiff employment litigation. Aleksandr’s work involves federal and state antidiscrimination and antiretaliation, wage and hour, contract, employment-related tort, and trade secrets law. A significant part of Aleksandr’s practice involves matters related to background checks, drug testing, medical examinations, employee privacy, and workplace violence prevention.

While in law school, Aleksandr served as associate editor of the Berkeley Journal of Employment & Labor Law, director of the Bales Mock Trial Competition, and competed in multiple mock trial tournaments. He also worked as a law clerk at the Civil Division of the United States Attorney’s Office.
