Arshak Zakarian advises developers, sponsors, financial institutions, and utilities on transactional matters related to debt and equity financing, development, acquisition, and disposition of power generation projects, including renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, and battery energy storage.
Arshak advises both lenders and developers on construction and term loan financing as well as back-leverage and tax equity bridge loan financing transactions, which includes financing of community solar project portfolios as well as utility-scale solar projects. His experience also includes advising on build-own-transfer agreements, supply agreements and long-term maintenance contracts for utility-scale battery energy storage systems.
- Represented a distributed generation project developer in connection with a $330,000,000 construction loan facility involving a syndicate of lenders for the development and construction of community solar and battery energy storage projects located throughout the northeastern United States
- Represented a global financial institution in connection with a construction debt and term loan financing of a 125 MW solar project located in Texas and an approximately 40 MW solar project located in Alabama
- Represented an investor-owned electric utility in entering build-own-transfer agreements and long-term maintenance contracts for battery energy storage projects located in California totaling over 350 MW in capacity, including advising through various milestones and the final completion and sale of the projects
- Represented a utility-scale solar and battery energy storage developer in the execution of a portfolio-level, master supply agreement for the purchase and commissioning of battery energy storage systems from an international supplier, including the execution of a purchase order totaling over $105,000,000
- Represented a private placement lender in connection with the construction debt financing of two solar projects located in Maryland totaling 35 MW in capacity
