Chelsea Pollard

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Chelsea worked as an associate at one of the largest regional law firms in the Middle East and at an arbitral institution in Malaysia, where she was part of the standard form of building contracts team. During her time at the arbitral institution, she was involved in drafting arbitration rules, standard forms of building contracts, and standard forms of software development contracts and participated in a number of speaking engagements.

Chelsea is a member of the executive committee of Arbitrator Intelligence, and past co-chair of the American Society of International Law, New Professionals Interest Group.

• Acted for an employer in a dispute with a piping subcontractor pertaining to claims for alleged additional works done and a counterclaim for liquidated damages in the total sum of $50 million
• Acted for a subcontractor in relation to its claims against the main contractor for unpaid sums of QAR 81 million (approximately $22.25 million)
• Advised an employer in assessing the risk of terminating the main contractor and potential claims against the main contractor of $17 million
• Acted for a hotel owner in an arbitration arising out of the termination of a hotel management agreement for QAR 56 million (approximately $15.38 million)
• Advised a supplier in relation to a dispute with the employer for outstanding sums of OMR 4.4 million (approximately $11.43 million)
• Advised an employer concerning potential liquidated damages claims against four contractors, in total estimated to be OMR 500,000 (approximately $1.3 million)
• Acted for and provided advice to a contractor in its defense and counterclaim against the employer for the disputed sum of OMR 378,000 (approximately $982,000)
• Acted for an international company in an arbitral dispute arising from a licensing agreement in the sum of €750,000 (approximately $824,000)
• Represented an international company in relation to its claim for nonpayment for delivered goods in the sum of €400,000 (approximately $439,000)
• Represented an international company about its debt claim of €300,000 (approximately $330,000) in a liquidation proceeding
• Acted for and provided advice to a subcontractor in relation to a dispute with a contractor regarding outstanding payments of OMR 45,000 (approximately $116,900)
• Acted for a hotel operator in relation to the termination of a management agreement resulting from the property owner’s breach
• Provided advice to the main contractor during the construction of a hospital on its claims and requests to the employer to avoid potential disputes at the conclusion of the project
