Evan A. Ormond
Evan represents clients in complex civil litigation and government enforcement actions in federal and state courts. He served as a clerk for Judge Thomas J. Whelan of the US District Court for the Southern District of California before returning to the firm. Evan has played a key role in trials involving trade secrets, product liability, and abatement for public nuisance in connection with the manufacture and distribution of opioid medicines. He draws on this experience and his clerkship to thoughtfully develop cases for trial.
Evan also represents clients in product liability matters in California, including in state coordinated proceedings, multidistrict litigation proceedings, and class actions. He defends clients in US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other regulatory investigations and advises clients on internal investigations. Evan also has substantial experience with business disputes involving startups, intellectual property, and real estate transactions.
Evan maintains an active pro bono practice, which includes representing the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in successfully obtaining compliance with the ACLU’s California Public Records Request for prosecutorial data from the City of San Mateo and obtaining a favorable settlement in a civil case for an elderly homeowner in Los Angeles who was victim of an equity-stripping scam.
