Imani D. Gunn advises clients on a broad range of labor and employment matters, including litigation and counseling. Imani helps employers and management resolve issues related to discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, and compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws and regulations. She also counsels on workplace culture, including helping companies and organizations develop and sustain respectful, inclusive, and diverse workplaces.
Imani previously served as a law clerk for Judge Stephanie Dawkins Davis of the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. In law school, Imani was the submissions editor for the Georgetown Law Journal of Modern and Critical Race Perspectives. Imani also represented individuals in the Georgetown Criminal Justice Clinic, wherein she provided legal representation to defendants charged with misdemeanors and filed and presented oral argument on motions for compassionate release in the District of Columbia Superior Court. During law school, Imani was an active member of Georgetown’s Black Law Students Association (BLSA), and also served as the BLSA social chair and vice president. Imani was also a research assistant to Professor Paul Butler.
Prior to attending law school, Imani worked with the House Committee on Homeland Security as a research assistant, parliamentarian, and legislative assistant for the Transportation Security Subcommittee. In this position, Imani advised congressmembers on House floor procedure and assisted in developing transportation security legislation, providing robust oversight of transportation security agencies, and preparing for Committee hearings.
