James L. Black, Jr. represents developers, lenders, institutional investors, corporations, REITs, users and owners of office, retail, multifamily, R&D, industrial, and mixed-use properties on all aspects of transactional real estate practice. Jim handles a wide variety of commercial real estate transactions nationally and locally, including acquisitions and dispositions, developments, debt and equity financings, leases, joint ventures, distressed debt transactions, loan dispositions, and timberlands transactions. Jim represents lenders and developers on real estate, financing, and construction matters for conventional and renewable power generation projects.
Jim represents clients in the acquisition, financing, and sale of timberlands, including transactions involving over several million acres nationally. He is skilled in representing commercial lenders with respect to distressed mortgage and mezzanine loans, including loan restructurings, enforcement proceedings, transfers in lieu of foreclosure, and loan dispositions. Jim also represents lenders, owners, and developers on real estate aspects of project finance and energy transactions, including cogeneration, solar, hydroelectric, and geothermal projects, and leveraged lease transactions.
