Jaswant (Josh) Singh is a Texas-based insurance recovery litigator, serving as coverage counsel on matters involving billions of dollars in cumulative losses or exposures in state and federal courts throughout the United States. Josh handles all facets of litigation and mediation, including case strategy, discovery, depositions of fact and expert witnesses, dispositive motions, and trial preparations, with a team across domestic and international offices. Josh serves on the firm’s Global Committee on Associates for the Houston and Dallas offices and the Houston recruiting and social committees.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Josh clerked for five years with Judge Edwin G. Torres of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida, overseeing court proceedings and drafting decisions on criminal law and procedure, breach of contract, maritime law, and insurance coverage disputes, among other cases. Before clerking, he practiced in California for two years with an international firm representing clients in white collar criminal investigations, antitrust matters, and securities litigation. He serves as a board member for a nonprofit in Miami, Florida providing health counseling services to underprivileged adolescents.
While in law school, Josh was the academic chair for the Black Law Students Association, a UChicago Careers in Law mentor, and a member of the Employment Discrimination Clinic. Before law school, he served as a judicial intern to the Chief Judge of the Fourth Municipal District for the Circuit Court of Cook County. Josh holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and African American studies from Brown University.
