Edward J. L. (Jay) Southgate a structured finance attorney based in the firm’s New York office. Jay regularly represents financial institutions, issuers and underwriters in private placements of residential mortgage and asset-backed securities, with a particular focus on the consumer lending space. In addition, Jay represents financial institutions in connection with warehouse financing and advises clients on a broad array of issues including compliance with applicable regulatory and reporting requirements.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Jay worked in the investment management division of a major international financial institution and as a capital markets group associate in the New York and Tokyo offices of a major international firm where he represented issuers and underwriters on public and private offerings of debt and equity securities.
